Free World Dialup launched in 1995 with a simple idea: voice could live on the internet. It grew into the largest end-to-end IP communication network of its time, connecting people around the world directly. At its best, FWD made voice more direct, more open, and closer to the original sound.
That idea helped shape modern communication. In 2004, the Pulver Order confirmed that internet communication could grow outside traditional telecom — and FWD was part of that moment.
Now it returns in 2026, to help usher in the age of AI communication. Free World Dialup operates as a non-commercial, experimental network, with a philosophy inspired by Amateur Radio and the principles described in FCC Part 97.1.
This time, FWD returns with trusted identity, HD voice, and a foundation for what conversations can become next.
